PICTURE Africa

Is a 3 year research program (Nov. 2006 – December 2009) funded by IDRC under agreement no. 103876-001. The project is entitled, “Poverty, Information and Communication Technology in Urban and Rural Eastern Africa” Case Studies from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.

The research project is intended to assess the relationship between poverty and ICT in the region. NURRU is the lead agency and other organizations include: Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) Tanzania, Institute of Development Studies (IDS) University of Nairobi, OSSREA Rwanda and University of Kwazul Natal; South Africa.

DFID Civil Society Umbrella Program

In March 2006, NURRU entered into pattern ship with DFID in agreement no. AG. 4485 to implement the 3 year Civil Society Umbrella Program. The project is aimed at enhancing rights awareness and advocacy for influencing government policies, programmes and strategies.

European Union Civil Society Capacity Building Program

The NURRU–EU–CSCBP project is implemented under agreement no. C7/192/2005 which was signed on 9/8/2006. The project is implemented in Katakwi and Morungatuny sub counties in Katakwi and Amuria Districts respectively. It is titled, Enhancing Civil Society Capacity in Advocacy for Poverty Reduction and Budget Monitoring for Children, People with Disabilities and Rural Women”. The project aims at empowering communities in order to improve their lives.
